Types of diabetes

Diabetes is of two kinds:

Type 1 or insulin dependent, where the pancreas does not produce insulin or the quantity produced is less than body requirements. In this diabetic should use insulin injection pump. This type of diabetes has the following characteristics:

◦ is under 35 years;

◦ the person is weak;

◦ manifestations are acute appear

◦ increased thirst and frequent urination;

◦ Food is accompanied by increased appetite and rapid weight loss, fatigue and weakness

◦ events,

◦ contains 10% of all patients with diabetes.


Type 2 or insulin resistant, the body does not respond to insulin, which is usually diagnosed in people over 40 years. American Diabetes Association Conference in June 1999 to draw attention to the alarming emergence and growth of type 2 diabetes in obese children, sometimes representing double the percentage of type 1 diabetes. This type of diabetes has the following features:

 ◦ usually occurs in overweight people;

◦ onset is slow and mostly silent (without symptoms)

◦ vision disorders;

◦ wounds heal with difficulty;

◦ repeated infections of the skin , mouth and bladder;

◦ 90% of all diabetics.

Both forms of diabetes are accompanied by large and unexpected changes in glycemia under the two forms:

◦ hyperglycemia (over 150 mg per deciliter) caused by:

◦ too many diabetic foods or poor diet, lack

◦ little movement or motion, medication administration

◦ in insufficient quantities or incorrectly

◦ too much stress, infections or other illnesses ◦,

◦ medication for diabetes is not treated properly by the body, there

◦ cycle.

◦ hypoglycemia (below 70 milligrams per deciliter) who may have the following cases:

◦ consumption of food or meals at little irregular hours;

◦ exercises or exercise too much or long in advance without taking a break, too much insulin

◦ or other diabetes medicine or changing their hours of administration;

◦ too much stress in work and family;

◦ side effects of other drugs;

◦ alcohol without food;
